The VIRD have tried to combat the COVID-19 pandemic to help respond to this global outbreak. As COVID-19 pandemic spreads across the world, many of our most vulnerable communities, including jobless, old aged, poor, ill , physically handicapped , orphan   and refugees are facing a huge crisis like food insecurity, loss of income and lack of hygiene , protective equipment etc. Under the current situation COVID-19 has extremely affected the rural poor tribal families, comprising of migrants, daily wage workers, construction workers, barefoot/small and marginalized farmers, street vendors have been the worst hit. These groups have lost the only source of their income and have no means to make ends meet or provide food for their families. Under this critical circumstance, VIRD has stepped in to support such groups in the time of this emergency by providing them with essential dry ration support by Aid-India, ICA and JivaDaya Foundation. Very needy households were identified in our operational tribal concentrated Deogarh and Angul District of Odisha. This humanitarian aid has been an effective way to contribute during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
